Hello! I'm David. I like training my muscles at the gym and training my mind at my desk. I grew up in Los Angeles, California, and have lived in both the mountains of Colorado and the desert of Arizona. Right now I am a PhD student at Sophia (上智) in Tokyo. My academic interests are Hokkaido, the Ainu, and the Matagi. I like visiting historic sites in Japan whenever I get the chance.Ich als Lehrkraft
I have experience tutoring new immigrants to the United States in reading and speaking English. I learned that motivated students plus a patient teacher can make language learning fun and effective. I am passionate about weight lifting. The way to get stronger at the gym is hard work and consistency. I think learning is the same. So I mix the hard work of vocabulary and pronunciation drills with the fun tasks of speaking. Learning a language is not always easy, but it can be rewarding and exciting as well. I also customize my lessons depending on student needs. I can help with academic writing and correct or critique your term papers, help interpret a difficult textbook, enjoy free conversation, or introduce grammatical fundamentals.
