Steff

Classes with Steff are a joy. I can be very timid, especially about making stupid mistakes in front of someone (and as a new learner, I make a lot of them!). This used to be terrifying for me. But I’ve found it’s really ok to make silly mistakes with Steff because he isn’t judging that. I never thought I’d say it, but sometimes now those mistakes are even fun because they lead to fits of laughter from both of us! These classes are a blast. My next class with Steff will be number 50, and I can see the progress I’ve made. I definitely couldn’t have done it on my own. He’s a great teacher - patient, easygoing, smart, helpful. He makes this fun. If you’re looking for all of that and more, he’s the one.

My lessons with Steff have been such a joy! He strikes a great balance between free-flowing conversation and correction, while offering super useful suggestions on word choice/formulations that have helped my German become more natural and idiomatic. Teaching online is so difficult, but Steff is able to foster the type of welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere that is ideal for language learning. Steff's lessons are highly personalized, and can be as structured or as spontaneous as you like. It has been a true pleasure working with him!!

I’ve been taking 15 one-hour German lessons with Steff over the past four months, and I can highly recommend him. Steff focuses on speaking practice and encourages me to talk as much as possible. When I make mistakes, he gives me a chance to correct myself first and then suggests the correct version if needed. All corrected sentences are saved in a shared document, which makes it easy to review and learn from my own examples. Thanks to this approach, I’ve collected over 300 corrected sentences directly related to my life and everyday situations. My listening comprehension has also improved a lot — I now understand German conversations on a wide range of topics and feel much more confident speaking. These lessons have made my daily life in Germany much easier: I can handle conversations with doctors, rent apartments, and start conversations with Germans without fear. I’m currently working towards B1 level and hope to pass the exam by the end of the year.

I've been taking lessons with Steff for several months. He is patient, kind, and fun, important qualities in a teacher. He’s a careful listener and provides constructive feedback. He gives suggestions on more natural ways to express myself. I make countless mistakes, sometimes the same mistakes I’ve already made, and I can become flustered by my errors. Yet Steff remains a calm and humorous influence and I tend to end up laughing over my German language missteps. I most enjoy that Steff teaches me how to speak German like a German. We don’t use canned textbook phrases so the language sounds more natural. Before taking classes with Steff, I took a three month course at the Goethe Institute. I have learned more in less time with Steff than I did in that course. I look forward to improving my German language skills and being able to have more complex discussions. Steff is an interesting person who doubtless has great stories to tell and can speak on many topics. Vielen Dank, Steff!

Herr Steff is my king. I look forward to all of my lessons and truly enjoy them. I appreciate that he is very supportive and patient even when I make the same mistake so many times. He manages to push me but also meet me where I am at that moment. Im confident that with his help, i’ll be able to reach my German goals!
