Jenn

Jenn is a wonderful teacher. I have been studying Korean with her for 5 months now and have made so much progress. Learning a new language can be so daunting at first. Before booking my first lesson, I spent a week studying Hangul on my own. I felt so nervous and self-conscious, but Jenn’s encouragement immediately put me at ease. We use a university textbook and workbook, covering new grammatical concepts and vocabulary each week. We also practice speaking and listening through real-life scenarios from the textbook, which are not only entertaining but also practical for everyday situations. I find the structured approach very effective. Jenn goes above and beyond by grading homework assignments outside scheduled lesson times and creating Quizlet flashcards to help students study. As a teacher she is patient, kind, and encouraging, and makes learning comfortable and fun. She is deeply committed to teaching and genuinely cares about her students. Really, she is a fantastic teacher!

I have now been taking lessons with Jenn for about a year and I have made so much progress thanks to her help! I started not knowing much at all and I am now able to read, listen, speak, and write complete sentences/conversations - due to her amazing teaching and the resources she provides. I highly recommend taking classes with Jenn. 🤩 it has been such a fun and rewarding journey for me!

I’ve been taking classes with Jenn for almost one year now and I’m really happy with my progress. I was able to use what I’ve learned when I visited Korea this summer and I surprised myself at how far I’ve come. Her classes have helped me maintain a clear and consistent direction in navigating the language, and she makes sure to incorporate ways of communicating in a natural, real world setting. I still have a long way to go, but Jenn’s classes make the journey a lot less daunting!

As a native English speaker, learning Korean is really challenging. This week, I finished my second textbook. As we were reviewing the content, I realized how much I've learned in my ~1.5 years of taking lessons with Jenn. She is a great teacher and is happy to give comprehensive answers to the litany of questions I ask each week. I always look forward to our lessons and, while I know fluency will not come overnight, I'm excited by the progress I notice.

Lessons are always fun, I love that we chat and I get to practice without feeling like I’m imposing. And when I struggle to say something, she helps with grammar and vocabulary, and turns it into a mini lesson.

I learn so much with every lesson with Jenn. She goes beyond the textbook and covers things like culture and common sayings. She creates a safe space for me to practice and experiment so I’m comfortable speaking.
