Shoko Toda

I’ve had a few lessons and I already feel confident and motivated. Shoko 先生 always takes the time to make sure I understand everything and answers my questions thoroughly. The homework and flash cards she provides have allowed me to remember the lesson and apply the knowledge I’ve accumulated. I appreciate you, Shoko 先生, for your efforts!

Shoko Sensei has been and continues to be an incredible resource for my learning. We typically chat for the start of the lessons about my week or my family in Japanese and I get very useful practice trying to say things I actually want to say. She is attentive and remembers the things we talk about so it feels like a real connection despite being over the phone. Sensei has organized lessons and will go at your pace which is very useful to me who is often held back by group lessons. I can't imagine making as much progress as I have without her help. ありがとうございました!

ありがとうございました！Another great lesson with しょこ先生。This week Shoko taught me more kanji, we did a JLPT N5 kanji review, reviewed the より、のほうが comparisons and learnt how to conjugate adjectives into the くて、で forms! また来週ね！

I asked Shoko to help me practise my listening for JLPT N4. She was immediately able to call up a sample listening exam, to talk me through the format of the test, give me tips, and help me understand the recordings we listened to. She also let me know when the spoken Japanese differed from everyday usage and made sure that I had a record of any new words. I would recommend her teaching to anyone learning Japanese.
