Hey people! My name is Ermes, community tutor here, on Italki. My origins can be traced back to Abruzzo, Italy, however, I have been living in different countries around Europe in the past few years. I have studied in an international DNS The Necessary Teacher Training College, focusing on alternative pedagogy, based on nonformal education. At the moment I am living in Lithuania. I am an activist for human, animal and environment rights.
I love to play different team sports, to travel, to run, to play chess and to spend time in a vegetable garden growing my own food, which is an important part of my life.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I have been teaching on Italki since 2021. During the study period, I had many pedagogical possibilities to witness the importance of preparing a good lesson and always having a back-up plan. Moreover, I also understood how relevant it is to create a good connection with the students and get to know them better in order to make them feel part of the learning process and being in the driving seat of their education.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
During my studying time in Denmark, I have also researched about different methods regarding how to teach a language to foreign people, such as: Total physical response and Situational language teaching.
As I mentioned before it will be important to create a connection with the Student and understand how to create an environment, which will encourage him/her to engage more in their own learning process. I have an aspiration to create a fun and inclusive learning environment and to also bring the Italian culture to the students.
Ermes is a great language teacher! He is personable, prepared, flexible, and a good communicator. He is able to explain things in a way you can understand easily. He is also very patient! This is a necessary quality for a teacher/tutor of languages. I highly recommend Ermes!

Ermes is a very friendly, agreeable and intelligent person. It's a pleasure to practice my Italian in conversation with him. He manages to be helpful, and provide corrections when necessary, without being intimidating. I recommend Ermes for anyone who has enough Italian to get around but wants to improve their fluency and accuracy, through interesting conversations about topics such as Italian society, language, food, history, politics and film. My grade for Ermes is A+.

The best thing about Ermo is that he knows very well the balance between giving you space for speaking, while also correcting you and letting you know when you make a mistake. My speaking has greatly improved ever since I am taking lessons with him. I highly recommend him, he's a great instructor!

Working with Ermes is making me feel better about speaking Italian. Even though I still make lots of mistakes he manages to correct me just enough that I improve, and to encourage me just enough that my confidence and pleasure in speaking Italian grows. He is also cheerful and fun to joke around with while you practice. Highly recommended.

Ermes is a very patient teacher, encouraging you to find words yourself but correcting where necessary. I've learned a lot about Italian culture and have really improved my language skills - I feel a lot more at ease saying casual things and making jokes since I started my lessons! I would recommend Ermes as a teacher, especially if you're interested in learning more about things inherent to Italian culture :) Grazie Ermes!
