Matías Méndez

As always, a great lesson. I learn not only the language, but also about life in Argentina and Buenos Aires. Matías clearly explains peculiarities of Spanish and makes the lessons both challenging and rewarding.

I started learning Spanish with Matias at the elementary level (A1) approximately six months ago, and I am currently at the intermediate level (B1). There is still much to learn, but I believe it is an essential stage in the evolution of my language, which I have been greatly enjoying. Matías is welcoming, but also focused, steady, and patient. I appreciate his friendly teaching style, which is free of pressure or tension. For me to be able to improve my speaking abilities and overcome the language barrier, that environment is CRUCIAL. Con la ayuda de un maestro fantástico, Matías, quiero continuar mi viaje hacia ser fluente o al menos semi-fluente en español. Another great lesson, I’ve been with Matias for over 100 hours and actually ended up visiting Argentina for three weeks where we got to meet irl. Great guy and I’m hoping to get to the next level with him

One of the major things I like in a teacher is someone who is actively learning another language as an adult. There are huge differences between someone who is natively bilingual/from school and an adult learner because it poses specific challenges to the learner. Matias is actively also learning other languages like Russian and French which means one of the many topics we chat about is how to learn a language in of itself (in Spanish of course!) I’ve had 100+ lessons with him and I think he’s great.

Matias is an incredible teacher. His patience over the year has been fantastic and can really suit your specific needs and pace to each class. Once into B1&2 he really tries to get you talking as much as possible which is the best way to learn and thoroughly explains your mistakes. Would recommend 100%.

Matías is an absolute pleasure to work and learn with. He makes me excited to go to class each time, keeps me engaged with humor and is constantly pushing me forward, keeping me the perfect learning environment of not overwhelming me but pushing me slightly past my knowledge zone. This is a special skill for a teacher and differentiates a good teacher to a gold standard teacher
