I live in America. I enjoy traveling and cooking. Often I try to do both simultaneously! I am quite intrigued by history. I have a MA in history and hope to write historical fiction in the future, with the goal of giving a voice to those otherwise unheard. I enjoy the outdoors and outdoor space. I like to teach and learn outdoors. I enjoy seeing others meet goals and expand themselves personally and professionally. I enjoy teaching - but I also appreciate learning.

Ich als Lehrkraft

I find most important the relationship between student and teacher as one of trust. I understand my responsibility to teach and develop the student. I do expect students to also be active participants and be serious about their work. I find it important that students grasp work before moving forward and will spend the time necessary before progressing to next lessons. I believe strongly in re-enforcement and repetition. I also understand learners have different styles, needs and expectations. Therefore I work to gather & provide a large array and different types of learning materials.

Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil

As a community tutor I work to be more casual and allow the student to lead when necessary. This type of lesson will focus on fluency and overall knowledge of current events, important topics and the like. I ask many questions and encourage the student to speak most often. As a professional teacher, I find it best to conduct a needs analysis prior to beginning a full formalized lesson, particularly my business English students. Each one has a different level of responsibility in the workplace and its important lesson plans meet those needs. I believe repetition is critical as part of the learning process.
