Abby brings a cheerful and lively atmosphere to the classroom. In the recent lessons, she talked about common situations that one may encounter in China (e.g. looking for an apartment, determining payment method at a convenience store, ordering from a restaurant) and the vocabulary/phrases to respond to those situations. While we were practicing how to order food at a restaurant, she encouraged me to say the name of dishes that I wanted to order and draw a picture alongside her drawing of the menu. This was really fun and interactive. We also talked about daily life and discussed life philosophy. She encourages me to speak Chinese as much as possible and to not be afraid of making mistakes. She puts in effort to understand what I say and suggests words when I have trouble finishing sentences. Abby is a great teacher, I highly recommend her! Thanks for the lessons! Abby is so awesome! She's really friendly and funny and I always enjoy my lessons with her. She gives me a lot of encouragement and she also puts together really interesting lessons. I always feel like I've learned lots of new things. We've looked at a variety of things together so far including art vocabulary, poetry and stories!
