Native Estonian/Russian speaker living in Italy for 30+ years. I help adult learners prepare for A2 and B1 Estonian and Italian language exams through practical conversation, grammar, vocabulary, and real-life communication. Passionate Estonian polyglot helping students make sense of the Estonian language I am Eli(sabeth), born and bread Estonian with a passion for languages. I've completed TEFL level 5 course and been teaching Estonian since Sept 2025, both online and in-person courses. I also run a beginner-friendly podcast Estonian with Eli as I noticed the lack of materials available for listening. The lessons could be more traditional classroom-atmosphere and discuss grammar or do drills, or just a casual conversation to practice your Estonian, whatever you prefer. My goal is to make you a more confident speaker using varied materials for it, such as video, audio, reading and homework assignments between lessons (if preferred). For beginners, I can suggest following Settle Estonia A1/A2 book, or E nagu Eesti, if you prefer, to go through various topics in an organised way, but we can also just focus on what you want to be able to say and how you might be exposed to the language. If you have time and want to do some homework between lessons, please let me know, I'm happy to assign some and go over it before our next lesson :) I am also happy to use any of my other languages to help you learn, so let me know if you want to have the lesson in a different language than English! I also use other platforms like Jitsi or Proton Meet, so if you prefer not to use Italki classroom, send me a message!

As a language nerd who recently went from zero to B2 in French in just one year, I know exactly what it takes to tackle a new language. Aside from my native Estonian, I speak English and Russian, and I'm currently learning French and Chinese. Estonian has a reputation for being complicated, especially when it comes to cases, which causes a lot of students get frustrated trying to perfectly memorize every single rule. I take a different approach. When I learned French, I got the absolute basics down and then immersed myself in content. I encourage my students to do the same. Rather than just staring at grammar charts, we will learn the rules by experiencing them in context. It is much more interesting and keeps your motivation high. What to expect in my lessons: For Beginners & Structured Learners: We will use materials based on a standard Estonian textbook, which I will share with you via Google Docs so we can easily work on exercises together. Even as a beginner, we will focus heavily on talking and sentence construction from day one. Conversation & Advanced: If you want to talk, we can talk about absolutely anything—from technology, culture, and cuisine to hobbies and how physics works. Exam Preparation: If you are studying for a specific Estonian proficiency exam, we will pivot and focus directly on exam-style speaking exercises to get you ready.
