I know that there are several time zones in the US, but I didn’t know that my country spans at least five different geographical times zones. That’s because ever since I can remember, we have followed a single standard time based on Beijing time. We learned (when? Now or at school?) that time zones are based on longitude, while the weather is based on latitude. Hence, time varies from area to area in China, yet I have never thought about it and questioned why we only have one single time zone.
