My name is Mariangela and I am a native Italian speaker. I was born in Bologna, in the north of Italy but I am currently living in Sicily. I am a foreign language teacher and graduated from the University for Interpreters and Translators (English and Spanish). I love languages! I have been studying them since I was a little girl. I also love teaching languages, including learning strategies and techniques. I can communicate quite well in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, but I am also learning Arabic, Japanese and Greek. Essendo io in prima persona una studentessa di lingue, so bene quali sono le principali difficoltà quando si vuole imparare una nuova lingua. E’ importante riuscire ad affrontare diverse tipologie di apprendimento, quindi nelle mie lezioni ci si focalizzerà su vocabolario, conversazione, modi di dire, tradizioni culinarie, grammatica (che non può mai mancare), musica e un po’ di traduzione. Gli ultimi 5 minuti delle mie lezioni saranno dedicati al feedback, così da poter capire la tua percezione su cosa credi che ti sia più utile e cosa meno, in modo che io possa pian piano costruire di volta in volta lezioni sempre più specifiche per te!

I try to be as flexible as possible and adapt to my students' needs. I really believe that motivation is key to learning a language (or anything at all probably). That is why I try to focus on what really interests my students and 'build' on that, whatever it may be – a topic, an objective in the language, a desire to visit a place. That way learning will not feel as something one 'has to' do with all its difficulties but as something one can hopefully enjoy while in the process, while learning things that are relevant to them. So yes, as a joke I that I believe that as in any kind of relationship listening to others and asking them what they wish for is a very good skill in teaching too!
