We call them Chemical Equations. To find the name for each symbol (For example Mg), go to the Periodic Table of Elements. The "→" is called an arrow, however, when saying the equation out loud we say "X reacts with Y to make V and W". The arrow becomes the "to make". I study Chemistry at A Level in the UK.

"Backstabber" refers to somebody who is a traitor or hypocrite or someone who says bad things about someone, without them knowing. What the word means is a person who attacks ("stabs") you when your back is turned (When you are not aware of them doing it). So, in the context of the example, you could succeed in office politics by saying bad things about people, behind their back, to make others think they are not a nice person. This means you turn people against each other. The example is saying it can help you succeed without this. I hope this helps.

March is spring, according to the Japanese calender.
But the cold wind is blowing still.
On the way home, I found the a cat and took a picture.
The moment I released the a shutter, the cat looked back away.
