An interesting example of the use of the two words occurs in Dr. Seuss's book, "The Cat in the Hat." This book was written to help children learn to read. Even at that age, children have acquired a lot of understanding of words and word use. Dr. Seuss plays with words and make jokes. His character, the Cat in the Hat, is mischievous. He says to two children:
"I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny.
But we can have lots of good fun that is funny!"
Thus, he is using the noun "fun," and indicates that some fun is also funny, and some fun is not funny.
