In the classroom I focus on presenting a full immersion experience. I do so by speaking with students only in Arabic and try to give them a feeling that they are in a different atmosphere. It is important to me that my students learn Arabic, as it is, without looking at it through a foreign lens so that they can think and produce in Arabic without relying on translating as their source of understanding. To maximize learning, I also promote an active classroom focused on student participation and interaction. I find that if I, as the teacher, lecture the class, students listen but do not participate. It is through the students’ interaction that they make mistakes, and continue to do so, but constantly learn from them. Finally, it is only through active participation and practice that the students will gain the confidence needed to use the language
