conditional sentences(1st and 2nd)


Hello, guys! This is Kate. Hope you are doing just fine. And today we’re going back to conditional sentences. This is part two and if you haven’t listened to the first podcast, it’s highly recommended to go back and take a look at them.

Alright, today’s podcast is about the 1st and 2nd conditionals. 
First of all let’s revise the first conditional. As you remember, we use it to talk about the future. Here are some examples for you to refresh your memory:

-If you study hard, you’ll enter the university.
-She will be happy if she earns outrageous sums of money.

I hope you remembered this one guys, because we’re going straight to the second conditional.

Why do we need it? To talk about present events which are almost impossible.

Here are a couple of examples:

If I could go anywhere, I would go to South Korea.
If I had more money, I would travel a lot.
I would drop out of my university if my parents didn’t pay for it.


Let’s take a look at the structure:

If+Past Simple, S+would+V1.
And vice versa
S+would+V1 | If+Past Simple(if the sentence is reversed, we don’t use a comma!)

こんばんは！
Japanese daily life podcast のAtsushiです。
このPodcastは、日本語を勉強しているみなさんに向けたPodcastです。


さて、今回も海外旅行の続きですね。
オランダのマーストリヒトにつきました！
という続きです。

着いたのは夜10時ぐらいでした。
遅い時間に歩くのはあんまりしたくなかったんですが、バスに乗る時間が遅かったので、やむを得ずそうしました。

マーストリヒトに無事着いて、そこから30分ほど歩かないといけなかったので、早速歩き始めました。駅前の小さいスーパーが閉まる前だったので急いで入って、少しだけ朝ごはんを買いました。

そこから駅前の道をまっすぐ歩いて行きました。
駅前の雰囲気はとても良く、夜ですが、ライトはたくさんついていて、安全な感じでした。

マーストリヒトのイメージは日本の京都のような感じでした。たぶん、もっと小さい街だと思いますが、昔の古き良き建物を残して街を新しくしている感じがしました。

レストランやカフェ、服屋など店はたくさんあり、ほとんど閉まっていましたが、道沿いのライトはついていたので歩きやすかったです。

歩いている人は少なかったですが、みんなリラックスして歩いている感じだったので、緊張することなく、安心して歩きました。

そして、Airbnbで予約した場所につきました。
少し迷いましたが、ホストに無事会えてカギをもらい、入ることができました。

とてもフレンドリーな方で、そして部屋もとても良い感じでとても気に入りました。

次の日は、ゆっくり街を歩く日にしていました。
ドイツではせわしなく、忙しなく、忙しく動いていたので、オランダはゆっくりする予定でした。

ということで、次のPodcastでは、マーストリヒトの街を歩いた話をしますね。
