Harriet Rich moved to Valladolid, Mexico from the US, when she retired, about 15 years ago. I stayed at the Airbnb she has there, in 2023. It feels like a blessing to say we’ve been friends ever since.

Japanese daily life podcast のAtsushiです。
このPodcastは、日本語を勉強しているみなさんに向けたPodcastです。


今回は、ユトレヒトを歩きました、という話ですね。

ユトレヒトは、昔からオランダ文化の中心的な都市だったそうです。オランダ最大の大学、ユトレヒト大学があります。それから、地理的にオランダの中心的な場所にもあるため、ユトレヒト中央駅は鉄道においても重要な駅とになっています。

アムステルダムからユトレヒトまでは電車で30分ぐらいでした。この駅もとても大きい駅でした。

日本の駅と比べると、全体的に駅の天井が高い造りになっています。なぜかは知らないですが。

駅を出て、2.3時間歩きました。
歩いて15分ぐらいのところにドム塔とドム教会がありました。

ここは、ユトレヒトのランドマーク的な塔ですね。
オランダで1番大きいみたいです。が、残念ながら工事中、ということで、その姿を見ることはできませんでした。

その隣にある、ドム教会は入ることができたので入りました。

できたのは630年ごろ、というとても古い教会です。1600年代には竜巻たつまきによる被害があり、塔と教会が離れたような形で今の状態があるようです。

この地域は古い街並みが残っていて、歩いていてとても気持ちが良かったです。

駅前の方は結構新しい感じで、少し建造物があったりなど、アーティスティックな感じがしました。

天気は良かったので、とても気持ちの良い時間でした。
そして、また電車に乗って、アムステルダムに帰りました。
