Descrizione
No course can supply the ten thousand hours of input fluency needs. This class shows you how to find your own. It starts with comprehensible input: you improve most on material slightly above your level, not far above it. Because Malayalam is diglossic, with written and spoken forms that differ substantially, you need both streams on purpose. The class then works through films, interviews and podcasts, news, FM radio and its advertisements, and film songs, saying what each does for you and when to use it. Key Malayalam words for this topic: വായിക്കുക (vaayikkuka) – to read കേൾക്കുക (kelkkuka) – to listen കാണുക (kaanuka) – to watch, to see പുസ്തകം (pusthakam) – book പത്രം (pathram) – newspaper സിനിമ (cinema) – film പാട്ട് (paattu) – song വാർത്ത (vaartha) – news കഥ (katha) – story മാസിക (maasika) – magazine In this class: • Comprehensible input and the narrow band that actually teaches • Diglossia: why print alone or film alone leaves you lopsided • Three passes with a film, ending in simultaneous shadowing • Interviews, radio adverts and song lyrics as everyday input Quizzes below. Dr. Reshmi R Nair — SpeakMalayalam.
