If and Then: -aal, -enkil and Wishes | Spoken Malayalam #035
Descrizione
English puts a separate word, "if", at the start: IF it rains, we won't go. English speakers search for a Malayalam "if" to put first, and some even use എങ്കിൽ (enkil) = if, as a stand-alone word in front of the sentence. In Malayalam, "if" is an ending glued onto the verb, and the "if" part comes first, the result second.
In this episode:
• "if" with actions: -aal
• "if" with states: -enkil
• "if not", "unless": -illenkil
• "even if": -aalum
• Wishes: "if only"
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
