1. Advent: Weihnachtsbräuche

In today’s episode, I wanted to speak to your heart—and your senses.

I want to encourage you to engage all five of your senses in your language learning journey. You see, language doesn’t just live in your brain—it dances through your fingertips, your eyes, your ears, even your nose and tastebuds. That’s right. When you involve multiple senses, you’re actually building stronger, deeper neural pathways that help memory stick.

Science tells us this works. Multisensory learning, especially when involving touch and movement, boosts retention and comprehension. When you touch flashcards, hear new words aloud, write them out by hand, or associate a scent or taste with a new phrase—you’re telling your brain, “This matters.”

And it does matter. You matter. Your learning journey is sacred.

So today, I reminded you to slow down, to savor the process. Whether it’s the sound of a foreign lullaby or the warmth of a dish from another culture, let your senses be your gentle guides. Let your whole body learn. And remember—there’s no right way to do it. There’s only your way, done with intention, done with love.

Emma Lapin sourit gentiment; elle sait que Pierre est un écureuil distrait qui oublie toujours où il a dissimulé ses provisions pour l'hiver.
La petite boutique d’Emma Lapin ne désemplit jamais; les animaux de Vertecampagne et de Petitbois s'y pressent du matin jusqu'au soir.
Il est vrai qu'Emma est particulièrement attentionnée et que les rayons de son magasin sont garnis des marchandises les plus attrayantes:
... des livres savants dont raffolent monsieur Hibou et ses élèves,
... des ampoules de rechange pour les lucioles,
... de croustillantes feuilles de salade pour les escargots gourmands,
... des baies rouges et juteuses pour les merles,

Le secret de la réussite d’Emma est qu’il n’est jamais question d’argent entre ses clients et elle. Tout se paie avec des sourires, des bisous, des plaisanteries ou des compliments. Rien d'étonnant que son commerce soit si florissant...

You know, there were times when I hit some serious rough patches, and I was just about ready to throw in the towel. But you wanna know what kept me going? It was my "why". My reason for diving into this whole thing was like a fire in my belly, burning bright and fierce. When your "why" is rock-solid, it's like a forcefield against giving up, no matter how tough it gets. What's your why?

What's Your WHY?

“都dōu”means “both/all”. The people or objects included are out before “都”.
For example：

tā men dōu xǐ huɑn hē chá 。 
他们都喜欢喝茶。

wǒ men dōu shì xué shenɡ 。 
我们都是学生。

每měi……都dōu……
In a sentence that contains the term “每”(every), usually “都” has to be inserted further along in the sentence, immediately in front of the verb.

tā měi tiān wǎn shɑnɡ dōu yù xí kè wén 。 
他每天晚上都预习课文。

wǒ měi jié kè dōu lái 。 
我每节课都来。

měi ɡè rén wǒ dōu rèn shí 。 
每个人我都认识。
