Self introduction!  

Hello to all of you! I’m Ann, and I was born in a town in Iloilo, about 30 kilometers away from the city. Our home was surrounded by a small coffee plantation, with trees like mango, coconut, cacao, and many other tropical or native fruits — it really felt like paradise! We also had plenty of animals around — chickens, geese, ducks, goats, pigs, cows, and even a carabao — and a small rice field. That was my childhood — simple, yet full of joy and natural beauty.

Now, I carry those memories and stories with me here on the podcast Ma-HILIGAYNON Ta!

I still clearly remember how we used to walk about 3 kilometers just to get to school when my siblings and I were in elementary. It was only when I got to high school that we moved closer to the highway. During the rainy season, we’d walk barefoot through rice paddies and small streams, carrying our school shoes and supplies. We would wash our muddy feet in a little stream beside the road before waiting for our favorite tricycle driver to pass by and take us to school.

You know, it’s only now that I realize how tough that was — but back then, it all felt like fun. I never even thought of it as difficult, especially for young schoolgirls like me.

We had a very loyal dog — his name was Burgo. He looked like he came from a police breed, maybe part German Shepherd mixed with a native dog. He was a gift from my grandfather. He was my companion through every silly adventure and farm chore.

あやまってばかりの日本語？？

この間、授業のときに「日本語にはたくさん謝（あやま）る言葉があるので、好きです」と教えてくれた生徒さんがいました。
確かに、日本語には謝ること言葉が多いです。いつも謝っているように感じます。そしていつも謝られているように感じます。
どんなときに「謝ることば」を使うのでしょうか。
【迷惑（めいわく）をかけてしまったら】
ちょっと友達にぶつかってしまったら、「ごめん」「ごめんなさい」と謝ります。
友人の持（も）ち物（もの）を壊（こわ）してしまったら、「すみませんでした」「申し訳ありません」と気持ちを込めて謝ります。そして心から謝るときは、頭を下（さ）げて「どうも」を付けて、「どうもすみませんでした」「どうも申し訳ありませんでした」と謝ると、効果的です。
もっとあらたまって「おわび」する「謝る」場合は「申し訳ありません」と言います。「申し訳」とは「言い訳」のことです。つまり「言い訳のしようがない」という意味です。
そして、待ち合わせに遅れたときなども、「遅れて、申し訳ありません」「遅れて、すみません」と丁寧（ていねい）に心を込めて謝ることが大切です。
【お礼を言うとき】
不思議なことに、「お礼を言うとき」も「すみません」「申し訳ありません」と言います。
もちろん「ありがとうございます」「ありがとう」とも言います。
たとえば、友達がケーキを持って家に遊びに来てくれました。そのケーキを受け取るときに、「すみません」「申し訳ありません」と言って、ケーキを受け取ります。もちろん「ありがとう」「ありがとうございます」と言って、ケーキを受け取ることもあります。
このときも、頭を下（さ）げて、丁寧（ていねい）にお礼の気持ちを伝えます。
「ありがとうございます」という言葉には、有（あり）難（がた）い（めったいにない）ことをしてもらって、感謝するというのが、もともとの意味です。親しい人には「ございます」を取って「ありがとう」と言います。
「すみません」「申し訳ありません」は、相手がわざわざ自分のためにしてくれたことを申し訳なく思う気持ちを表します。あやまるときや、たのんだり、たずねたりする場合にも使います。

【とりあえず謝っておく】
日本社会には「とりあえず謝っておく」という場面がたくさんあります。謝っている人は、「自分が悪い」「申し訳なく思っている」ということではありません。
例えば、レストランでお客さんから「料理が遅い」と文句を言われたら、すぐにお店の人は理由を説明する前に「申し訳ありません」と、とりあえず謝ります。夫婦関係でも「とりあえず謝る」という旦那さんは結構（けっこう）います。奥さんが旦那さんに「帰りが遅いね」と言うと、旦那さんはすぐに「ごめんね」と理由を言う前に謝ることがあります。
謝ることで、争いを起こさないようにします。ただ、注意が必要なのは、相手が謝っているからといって、「心から申し訳ない」と思って謝っているわけではないということです。でも、人は謝られると、自分の怒りを抑えようとする傾向にあります。結果として、大事（おおごと）にならずに終わることが多いです。つまり、争いが起きないということになります。
日本語って面白いですね。そして、とても日本っぽいと思いませんか。

おはようございます。日本語だんだんポットキャストのゆかりです。

今日は信号(しんごう)のはなしです。

日本にも、世界にも、どこにでも信号はありますね。

青(あお)は、すすんでいい。

赤(あか)はとまらないといけないですね。

ところで、信号の色は何色ですか？

日本の信号は、

赤、青、黄色(きいろ)です。

えっ、でも信号の色って、

青じゃなくて、みどりじゃない？

日本に来たことがある人は、そう思うかもしれません。

いいところに、気がつきましたね。

たしかに、色はみどりなんですが、

私たちは、赤、青、黄色といいます。

これは、いろいろな理由(りゆう)があるのですが、
昔(むかし)は、青色のことを緑色といっていたから、だそうです。

ほかにも、緑色だけど、"青"ということはあります。

たとえば、緑色のりんごは、
"青りんご"といいます。

"青々(あおあおとした)葉っぱ"

"青汁を飲む"

なども、そうですね。

みなさんの、国の信号の色はなんですか？

日本とおなじで、赤、青、黄色ですか？

週末、美容院に行ったよー！半年くらい前にボブにしてもうボブが楽(らく)すぎて楽すぎて...。いつも行っている美容院があるんだけど、今回は気分転換(てんかん)に違う美容院に行って少し切ってもらう予定だったんだよね。

I went to the hairdresser this weekend! I got a bob about 6 months ago and it's already too easy and comfortable... I have a hair salon that I usually go to, but this time I was going to go to a different one to get it cut a little for a change.

いつもは結(むす)べるギリギリくらいの長さに切ってもらうんだけど、まさかの！切られすぎた～。なんか、前髪(まえがみ)もカラーも変だし、結局2週間後にまたいつもの美容院行ったんだよね。ブリーチするかどうか悩んだんだけど、傷むのもいやーって美容師(びようし)さんに相談(そうだん)したら、今はダブルカラーっていうのが人気って教えてもらったからそれをお願いしたんだよね。たしかにブリーチしたときほど傷(いた)んではないんだけど、ちょっと髪がキシキシしてる感じがするかな。

I usually get them to cut it just long enough to tie it up, but no way! She was cut too much! Something was wrong with my bangs and color, and I ended up going back to my regular hair salon two weeks later. I wondered whether I should bleach my hair or not, but I didn't want to damage it, so I talked to the hairdresser about it, and she told me that double coloring is popular now, so I asked her to do that.It's true that my hair is not as damaged as when I bleached it, but it does feel a little bit squeaky. 

最近、日本では韓国のメイクとか髪型が流行ってって、私が行った美容院もそういう髪型を推してるところなんだよね。日本はまだみんなマスクしてるんだけど、髪を耳にかけたときに、前髪と後ろの髪の間に毛がないので、そこだけハゲて見えちゃうんだよね。そのこめかみの部分に「天使(てんし)の羽根(はね)バング」っていうのを作るのが人気なの。説明がむずしいからググってみてね。結構(けっこう)みんなしてるから、日本のテレビ見るときに注意(ちゅうい)してみてみて！

Recently, Korean makeup and hair styles have become popular in Japan, and the hair salon I went to is one that promotes such hairstyles. In Japan, everyone still wears masks, but when you put your hair over your ears, there is no hair between the front and back of your head, so you look bald there. So, it is very popular to create a bang called "Tenshi no Hane Bang" at the temples. It's hard to explain, so you'll have to Google it. It's pretty common, so pay attention when you watch Japanese TV!
