Idioms are words or phrases that aren’t meant to be taken literally and usually have a cultural meaning behind them. Most of the English idioms you hear are offering advice but also contain some underlying principles and values. You have probably heard some of them, especially in TV shows and movies, and wondered why you can’t understand these idioms even though you fully understand the words. Learning English idioms and expressions can take some time but there are some of them that are more popular than others that will come in handy if you know them. When you learn English idioms and phrases you will sound more confident especially when you speak with native English speakers. If you can’t understand idioms you will not be able to understand the context. こんにちは！今日は8月15日木曜日です。「5分でわかる日本語」ポッドキャストへようこそ。私は日本語の先生、みわです。今日は、「もう」と「まだ」の使い方についてお話しします。

まず、「もう」について説明します。「もう」は、何かがすでに終わったことを表す言葉です。例えば、「もう宿題をしました。」という文があります。この文は、「宿題が終わった」という意味です。他にも、「もうご飯を食べました。」や「もう旅行に行きました。」という使い方ができます。「もう」を使うときは、過去の形で使うことが多いです。

次に、「まだ」について説明します。「まだ」は、何かが終わっていないことを表す言葉です。例えば、「まだ宿題をしていません。」という文があります。この文は、「宿題が終わってない」という意味です。他にも、「まだご飯を食べていません。」や「まだ旅行に行っていません。」という使い方ができます。「まだ」を使うときは、「〜ない」や「〜ません」などの否定の形で使うことが多いです。

では、「もう宿題をしません。」という文はどういう意味でしょうか？これは「これから先、宿題をすることはありません。」という意味になります。未来のことを否定する表現になります。使い方には注意が必要です。

では、例文を見ながら、「もう」と「まだ」を使った質問の作り方を簡単にご紹介します。

まず、「もう」を使った質問の例を3つ紹介します。
	1.	もう朝ごはんを食べましたか？
	2.	もう作文を書きましたか？
	3.	もうお風呂に入りましたか？
「もう」を使った質問では、何かがすでに終わったかどうかを確認します。

次に、「まだ」を使った質問の例を3つ紹介します。
	1.	まだ朝ごはんを食べていませんか？
	2.	まだ作文を書いていませんか？
	3.	まだお風呂に入っていませんか？
「まだ」を使った質問では、何かが終わっていないかどうかを確認します。

ほかに、「まだ朝ごはんを食べますか？」という否定の形を使わない質問について説明します。「まだ朝ごはんを食べますか？」という質問は、「今、相手が朝ごはんを食べている状況で、もっと朝ごはんを食べたいですか？」という質問になります。今している行動を続けていくかどうかを知りたいときに使います。

「もう」と「まだ」を使った質問は、日常会話でとてもよく使います。この2つを上手に使い分けることで、自然な会話ができるようになります。

それでは、みなさんに問題です。次の文の中で「もう」と「まだ」の使い方が正しい文はどれですか？
	1.	「もう宿題をしていません。」
	2.	「まだ宿題をしました。」
	3.	「もう宿題をしました。」
正解は「3. もう宿題をしました。」です。

「もう」と「まだ」の使い方を学ぼう！

買い物はネット派？実店舗派？

私は普段（ふだん）、実店舗（じってんぽ）に行って買い物をすることが多い。なんとなく、実物（じつぶつ）を見て手に取り、ものを確認（かくにん）してから買いたいのだが、まったくインターネットを利用しないというわけでもない。オンラインで買うものといえば、酒（さけ）・飲料（いんりょう）・米（こめ）・書籍（しょせき）などだ。私は車を持っていないため、重たいものはオンラインで買う。衣類（いるい）はオンラインで購入（こうにゅう）した経験（けいけん）がたくさんあるが、質（しつ）が悪かったり、サイズ違（ちが）いがあったり、失敗（しっぱい）が多かったので今は極力（きょくりょく）買わない。どちらもメリットがあるから、上手（じょうず）に買い物したいものだ。
