Descrizione
In, on and at are tiny words, but they cause big trouble. Many languages use one word for all three, or choose differently, so learners translate directly and say "I'm in the bus", "She's at the kitchen" or "Look at me at the photo". In this episode: • At: a point or a place where something happens • In: inside or within an area • On: surfaces, lines and public transport • British floors and other habits • A home scene • Practice • Self-check questions with answers Key phrases from this episode: at home — I'm at home all day at the door — there's someone at the door at the bus stop — I'll wait at the bus stop at work — Mum's at work till six at school — the kids are at school at Nan's — we're at Nan's for lunch (Nan's = Nan's house) at the doctor's — I'm at the doctor's (the surgery) at the front of the queue — we're nearly there at the back of the cupboard — behind everything else at the station — meet me at the station at the traffic lights — turn left at the traffic lights in the kitchen — Dad's in the kitchen in the garden — the kids are playing in the garden in the queue — we're in the queue at the post office in the car — I left my phone in the car in a taxi — we went home in a taxi in bed — he's still in bed in town — I'm meeting Amelia in town (the town centre) in the photo — that's me in the photo in the fridge — the milk's in the fridge in the drawer — the scissors are in the top drawer in Leeds — my brother lives in Leeds on the table — your keys are on the table on the wall — the clock on the wall on the sofa — the cat's asleep on the sofa Real British English: the complete spoken course for learners worldwide — modern British accent, everyday grammar, phrasal verbs, idioms, slang, he/she/it for things, and real conversations at home.
