Wanting and Liking: Venam, Ishtam, Thaalparyam and Aagraham | Spoken Malayalam #117
Descrizione
In English you are the one who wants and likes: I want water, I like tea. So learners say ഞാൻ വെള്ളം വേണം (njaan vellam venam), translating "I want water" word by word. In Malayalam, wanting and liking happen TO you, so the person takes the "to me" ending -kku: എനിക്ക് വെള്ളം വേണം (enikku vellam venam) = I want water, literally "to me, water is needed".
In this episode:
• Venam: want and need
• Ishtam: liking
• Aagraham: wishes and hopes
• Thaalparyam and mood: interest
• Choosing between options
• An invented scene: evening snacks
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
