There are different words in Portuguese to refer to this bird. The hen is "galinha", the rooter is "galo" and the baby bird is pinto. Also we say "frango" to the chicken that we buy in the supermarket. This bird is usually raised in big farms.
The hen sounds like "co-co-có", the rooster sings "cocoricó" and the little chichen sounds "piu-piu". :D

A chicken in Chinese makes the sound 咯咯 (gē gē)
雞 (jī) in Chinese is bad and has meaning of prostitute. If you call a woman a 雞 (jī) in Chinese that is really bad.

The world chicken in spanish is “gallina”. The sound is usually imitated as “quiquiriquí”. Being a gallina in Argentina means that you are scared of losing, you don’t dare doing something. When you refuse to play in Argentina people will start making the sound of a gallina to make u accept the challenge. Also, “gallinas” is how are called River fans.
