After twenty days of an intense manhunt, the search for the criminal Lázaro Barbosa, a.k.a. ''O serial killer de Brasília'' (Brasilia's serial killer) has come to an end. He shot to death after engaging in a shootout with the police. According to the local authorities, the police sieged the neighborhood in which some of Lazaro's relatives live and in which he was believed to be hiding. When he realized that he was surrounded, he tried to escape and he was killed as he engaged in an intense shootout with the police. Even though there is some controversy sorrounded his death since some people suspect that he may have been executed by the police without actually resisting to prison, the fact that that criminal is not at large anymore is a relief for most people in the region.
