Do you know about the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival?
There was a famous ancient Chinese poet called Qu Yuan who wrote a poem to commemorate his lost country and then jumped into the Long River. He drowned in the river. People who respected him throw the Chinese food Zongzi into the river to commemorate him.
In the Chinese calendar, May 5th every year, Chinese people send Zongzi to each other. It's a traditional food in China, a ball of rice wrapped in a plant leaf, which looks like a bamboo leaf. It symbolises health and longevity. And in some areas of China, especially in the North and the area near the river, Chinese people love to hold a Dragon Boat Competition. The Champion's wishes will come true.
