It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the season of light, it was the season of darkness. It was the spring of hope, it was the winter of sadness. It was the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy-five. ~ A Tale of Two Cities I read this book about 5 years ago and I wish I had read it when I was younger.

You say you wish you had read it years ago, but I ask: would you have enjoyed it as much? My favourite book is great expectations, but I think I read it at a time when I could appreciate it for the way Dickens put so much of his own raw emotions and pain into the story. I could relate to it, and that made it wonderful. It was lighthearted and at the same time so deep. Was the you from five years ago, capable of appreciating it the way you do now?
