I came across an article online about portable audio event. The article said that the company called "earphone labo" exhibited a mini cable and that made waves because the cable never disconnects. It looks like the cable uses room temperature liquid metal, not mercury. The company states that the cables has a distinctive feature that the inner is filled with room temperature liguid metal unlike a conventional conductor. It also has feature that it can expand a little. The company developed it for an earphone. However, the development was so hard because they had to get creative so that liquid metal doesn't leak due to tiny parts for earphones. Since earphone cables might get stuck in something and might be pulled suddenly, they also designed the strength of the cable very carefully. They need to secure a stable supply of room temperature liquid metal as a material and they still have some problems. So, it seems like that it will take times to commercialize it. Many people already use wireless earphones like Bluetooth technology. I'm not sure how much demands we have in the future, but I believe that we can apply this new technology to other things in the future.
