Hey, what's the difference between these idioms:
catch someone on the wrong foot
catch someone off guard
catch someone on the hop
Can I say: You CAUGHT ME ON THE WRONG FOOT/OFF GUARD/ON THE HOP by asking this question.

In American usage we would say you caught me off guard. We would never use wrong footed as a verb. On the Hop I would probably not be understood by most Americans.

I suppose you could say all three but wrong-foot is usually used as a verb.
You wrong-footed me.
