Insegnante professionistaHow the Turkish Latin Alphabet Was Born ✍️
Did you know Turkish didn’t always use the Latin alphabet?
Before 1928, Turkish was written in a version of the Arabic script. But under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s leadership, Turkey underwent a major reform to modernize and unify the country — and language was a key part of it.
🔤 In 1928, the Turkish Latin alphabet was officially adopted. Inspired by Western European scripts, it replaced Arabic letters with 29 Latin-based ones — designed to better reflect Turkish pronunciation and boost literacy.
Why was this change important?
✅ Easier to learn
✅ More logical for Turkish phonetics
✅ Helped bridge the gap between people and education
This was more than a switch in letters — it was a cultural revolution. 📚✊
