In Japan, the way that people celebrate their birthdays differs depends on the person. Families with children usually have a birthday party to celebrate children’s birthday, have special dinner and a birthday cake. Parents give a present to their children during the party.That’s why many children are looking forward to their birthday. As for middle aged people, some people receive a birthday present from their family or friends.However, some people don’t do anything for their birthday. Instead, they spend the day as usual. As for the elderly, when they become 60, 70, 77, 80,88,90,99 and 100 years old, we celebrate their longevity on a large scale. For their 60th birthday,which is called “Kanreki” in Japanese, whole family enjoys a meal together.A traditional Japanese red color cardigan used to be given to them to wish their longevity, but it has been changing. Nowadays, various things or goods are chosen as presents.
