Insegnante professionistađč Grammar That Clicks: The Secret Behind âUsed toâ and âBe Used toâ
A lot of learners tell me: "I get confused between 'used to' and 'be used to'... they seem the same!"
Hereâs the simple key đ:
Used to + verb = A past habit that you donât do anymore.
âĄïž I used to live in Spain. (I donât anymore.)
Be used to + noun/verb-ing = You are comfortable with something.
âĄïž Iâm used to waking up early. (It feels normal to me now.)
đ§ Quick Tip: When you see âbe,â think about your state (how you feel).
When you see just âused to,â think about your actions (what you did).
