Accent Reduction Resources
Hello, I'm a tutor on a different platform but posting on ITALKI because my question wasn't answered. I'm requesting some resources from tutors that specialize in accent reduction. In the past, I have not emphasized accent reduction and have encouraged students to seek services/tutors elsewhere but I currently have an upper-intermediate/advanced student whose English level is very good
(B2-C1). The problem that I'm seeing is not her pronunciation but the speed in which she communicates in English and also her strong accent. Any thoughts or resources that are helpful or life-giving are appreciated.

The best research in the world on accent reduction is centered around 3 core things:
1. Intonation
2. Rhythm
3. Stress
Your student is likely, I'm just guessing, bringing to English her own patterns of these 3 elements from her native language, and her style of speaking. She doesn't need to reduce her accent, because a beautiful part of being nonnative, but she will need to improve her articulation, which really comes down to these 3 things.
Here's some consolidated research that may help:
Resources for Accent Modification Research:
ASHA Practice Portal on Accent Modification – Overview of goals, ethics, and strategies.
Google: Prosody
CAPT Systems in Language Learning (SAGE Journal) – Research on computer-assisted pronunciation training.
