What's the difference between startle, appall, stun, daze, stupefy and astound ?

Startle: temporarily surprised. "You startled me when I noticed you were there. "
Appal: disgusted. "I was appalled by your behavior today."
Stun: shocked, immobile
Daze: a shock associated with thoguhtlessness. A dazed person is not fully processing their surroundings
Stupefy: a less common word similar to daze
Astound: similar to stunned, but curious instead of immobile
All of these are similar to "surprise" but imply specific responses or experiences relating to that surprise.
