Pack up and pack in readily comes to mind; also "pack on the pounds" which is American English for gain weight, " He packed on some serious muscle". Here it means that the couple were showing great love ( or lust) for each other in public. This is displayed through kissing and hugging ( physical intimacy in the public domain)
