Hi Everyone! The last month I had a meeting job and .... I realized I don't know how to start a formal conversation. Could you help me to know which phrases can I use or which definitly cant use? I usually start the meeting saying "Hi everybody " and someone told me that is very informal.

Hi Mar đŸ€— I’m proud of you for living in Mexico and having a job that requires you to speak English đŸ«¶đŸŒ I’ve been practicing Spanish for a very long time and I still can’t imagine having a job that required me to speak Spanish đŸ˜± In my opinion it would be perfect to keep it simple and say: “Good _______ everyone” (good morning/afternoon/evening). If you’re saying this to one person, say “Mr./Ms.” and their last name. For example: “Good afternoon everyone.” Or, “Good morning Mr. Johnson”. I hope this helps 🌈

There are different stages in formal greeting. You could use the following - 1) Good morning one and all. 2) Good morning ladies and gentlemen. 3) Good morning to all the respected dignitaries present here. 4) Good morning to the (Chairman), (President),(Vice president) and all my fellow colleagues. (The bracket is for the guests present in the meeting) P.S. If you need help to improvise your English for free, feel free to text me.

I work in a professional environment and run some formal meetings. I usually start with something like “Hello everyone, welcome to today’s Portfolio Review.” Even if it’s a formal meeting, I think in many cases “Hi everyone” would be fine too. I would just not start a meeting with a lot of strangers that way.
