What does "a narrow defeat" mean?If someone suffered a narrow defeat,did he win or lose? I'm confused.Please help me out.Thank you very much.

Narrow defeat simply means to lose, and narrow victory means winning.
For example, The players were on the floor after a narrow defeat and were amazed at his attitude.
