Today felt like the hottest day of the year so far. The heat was intense, but what made it worse was the humidity—it felt like I was walking through a sauna! Despite the weather, we had an English vocabulary test at school. It wasn’t too hard, but concentrating in the heat was tough. After I got home, I finally had my first somen noodles of the year. They were cold and refreshing—exactly what I needed. It really felt like summer had officially started.

Improved Alternative: ----- Today might have been the hottest day of the year so far. The heat was intense, and the humidity made it feel like stepping into a sauna. Even with the weather, we had a vocabulary test in English class. It wasn’t too difficult, but it was hard to focus in that heat. When I got home, I had my first somen noodles of the year. They were perfectly cold and refreshing — just what I needed. It definitely felt like the start of summer.----- Tip -- • “Walking through a sauna” is fine, but “stepping into a sauna” is a bit more natural for a strong first impression. -- • “Wasn’t too hard” is correct, but “wasn’t too difficult” sounds slightly more formal and clear. -- • “Concentrating in the heat was tough” is good, but “hard to focus” is more conversational. -- • “Just what I needed” is more natural than “exactly what I needed” in speech. -- • “Summer had officially begun” uses the past perfect in a natural, reflective way — useful when describing a feeling after something happens. --
