After the flood, Noah told the animals on the ark, "Go forth and multiply." He saw a pair of snakes sunning themselves on a rock, doing nothing. Noah asked them "Why aren't you multiplying?" They said "We can't, we're adders."

But Noah knew just what to do. He cut down some trees, built a rustic platform, and put the adders on it. Because what Noah knew is that adders can multiply on a log table.

Like Paul mentioned, yes we sometimes say "ln" (pronnounced lun) as a shortcut for natural log in order to differentiate from "log". But we say natural log too.

When I was at university we did use to say 'lun' as a shorthand for 'natural logarithm.' Our lecturers did this too. Word of warning though, I am a biochemist, not a mathematician so whether that is standard or not I couldn't tell you.
