Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated ^_^
Perhaps there's already a discussion here about recommendations also.
Hi! Look, for music i recommend you Tom Jobim. It's an old Brazilian composer. His songs have simple letters and without slangs, he sings slowly. It's very good to listen. For practice the pronunciation, i recommend try to sing "Águas de Março".
So, i'm sorry about my English. If you want, i can teach to you and you can teach to me. :)
I expect that i helped.

Hi Sammie!<o:p></o:p>
I would recommend you a singer called Lulu Santos. Their songs are very popular in Brazil and I think it´s not so difficulty for portuguese beginners. He doesn´t sing very fast and his vocabulary is basic.<o:p></o:p>
Here´s a list of their song:<o:p></o:p>

Oi Sammie!
Hello Sammie! The most Brazilian writer of all times was Machado de Assis. Beyond novels, the most famous being Dom Casmurro, he wrote many tales. His Portuguese is from 19th century, but the advantage is that his books was translated in many languages. To me, Machado de Assis is the best.
