Thanks a lot to all of you for your perspectives. I am truly indebted to you. :)
As a teacher, I have a curriculum to follow, and lesson planning is mainly based on the curriculum that I have. Sometimes, I feel that the curriculum doesn’t fit learner’s need at all. So, I find that I am obliged to formulate the plan of the lesson on the basis of student needs. This is what I mean. ^^

Very generally, Meaning -> Form -> Pronunciation -> Appropriacy. One can adapt as necessary,

Agreed! There are many steps to planning a lesson but the first and most important one is always to find out what your students are looking for! Do they want a casual conversational lesson? Do they want more formal lessons with reading, writing, homework, etc. Are they learning for business purposes? To communicate better with friends? What is their level? All of these should affect a teacher's lessons so they can adapt them towards their students' needs.

For me, it all depends on what my students 1) ask for and 2) need to learn. You have to prepare for every student differently because they learn different from everyone else.
If your student asks you to just teach a random English lesson, it is then important to determine what level they are at in the language. After that, pick a subject that you feel could benefit a person at that level.
Hope this helps.
