Well I am from Hong Kong.  And I think one of reason for dark humour is not very popular is mainly because there's a lot of things that are forbidden to talk about in social media in China.

Well I watch a lot of comedy show such as comedy show from Taiwan, Hong Kong, china, Canada, U.S. and U.K.. I love watching stand up comedian talk show as well. 

Peronally I love jokes about politics and social issue, and story about travelling , about culture shock.

You have very well concluded in your first sentence that they are just different.  I think that has to do with many things, like their social background, religious preference, history a nation and everything else that we collectively call them culture.

I found particularly in Asia, where most of countries have a long history being an agricultural society, it's very important to take into account of everyone's feeling, that means not a lot of things that you can joke about.  Not even to joke on yourself.

On the other hand, countries like the US with a shorter history as a nation, and always play a rebellious role against the more traditional cultures, they do tend to have less restrictions on what/how they can joke about.   

Santiago, I know you are from Spain, I wonder where Spanish would fall into this spectrum.

For me, while I like most of its dark humours in the South Park, some of them are truly overdone for my taste.  Oh well, let's blame the cultural difference here  : )
