Good Night/Evening/Morning? if you meet someone in midnight

Hi there,

When you meet someone in midnight, how to say a greeting? I googled it, it depends on different countries' accustoms or situations.

Would you like to share your experience with your country, Thank you!

In Canada

Good morning ... a polite way to greet someone (saying hello before noon/12:00) (meeting in person or speaking on the phone)

Good evening ... a polite way to greet someone (meeting in person or speaking on the phone) after 6 PM and before midnight

Good night ... a polite way to say good-bye to someone (in person or on the phone) if you will not see them again until the next day or until another day ... also used when we know someone is going to bed to sleep (said to children or other family members who are usually in bed or going to bed soon)

I hope this helps...

A. Good night or good evening (when we are ending a visit with someone around midnight).  Simply, ¨Hi¨ or ¨Hello¨ if we are greeting someone that we are meeting at midnight.  = U.S.

"At midnight."

In general, I think "good evening" is perfectly fine, especially if we haven't gone to bed yet.

In Australia, it is still appropriate to say "G'day", even at night.
