How frequest should students take language lessons per week to sustain a smooth linguistic growth?
I guess you just read my question up there. I'm asking this because I need to advice my SWAHILI students appropriately since I want the best for them. How frequently should they take the swahili classes? Teachers, tell me what works best for your students. Students, tell me what frequency worked the magic for you

I think a student needs to work with the language everyday for at least 30 minutes, they may not need a teacher present, but they need to have a rhythm or drum beat about the work, it might be reading or listening or writing but everyday. They also need to do exercise everyday as exercise is a method by which the brain absorbs information, finally they need to sleep everyday as that is a time when the connections are restructured to firm-up any change in the brain.

There's no single correct answer. It all depends how soon your students want or need to be fluent.

Interesting question. So many factors that are involved in learning a language such as how well you can retain and assimilate the information. More classes are not going to help if the information is not truly being learned. I think it's equally important to incorporate all forms of communication-- reading, listening, writing and speaking-- as each of those skills will help strengthen the others.

Peter, exactly, once a week the gap between the lessons is too big. My students normally find 2 hours a week for actual lessons, I don't recommend them to study loner than 1 hour at a time. The rest is up to them to do homework and maintain their level.
