Another student admitted to recording a session without consent.
This destroys trust and I encourage all people to report violations of trust to italki.
TRUST is a huge issue / problem in online networks and communities.
I always make it clear to learners that I am inviting them into my home / my online space and that the situation is a private conversation and that I am not giving consent to have my video or audio recorded.
When confronted, the student said, "I am sorry, I am sorry!!!" so there is no misunderstanding about whether or not this is wrong.
Wow. Just wow.
UPDATE 11.5.2017
Thank you, italki, for your reply with the specific details in the terms and conditions that instruct users to ask for written consent before trying to record. Everyone has their views on this but this is a site with hundreds of thousands of users from multiple countries; there have to be agreed-upon rules of engagement and RECORDING SOMEONE WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND WRITTEN CONSENT is not permitted. This is the default expectation / it is in the terms and conditions; no need for teachers to put it on their profile. The onus is on the STUDENT to secure written permission first.
2. Record the session
If you choose to do this, please respect your teacher's privacy and first obtain written permission for recording either audio or video. We recommend asking for and receiving written permission through italki session messages to be sure that both teacher and student understands and agrees to being recorded. When you ask for permission, please be clear and honest about how you intend to use the recording and whether it will be only for your personal use or if you plan to share it with others; it will make everyone feel better to know ahead of time. Italki considers it a violation of privacy to publicly post a recording of another person without that person's permission.
mondaytuesday, You went over the line with the comment about violence against women. We were merely asking you why it's such a big deal for you. You refused to answer. Resorting to sophistry is repugnant.
I stated that I have no dog in the fight. It was mere curiosity, as I stated more than once.

here you can read Skype agreement you HAVE ACCEPTED before usage (all other similar software have the same policies).
"When you share Your Content with other people, you understand that they may be able to, on a worldwide basis, use, save, record, reproduce, transmit, display Your Content without compensating you. If you do not want others to have that ability, do not use the Services to share Your Content"
Congratulations, you actually have given them your permission to record only by using such a software.
I have to say I'm surprised at how the original poster's discussion is being derailed by people focusing on why she doesn't want to be recorded instead of the core issue: that one shouldn't record people without their consent, regardless of whether you intend to use the material for personal reasons or have a more questionable end in mind.
When I worked at a university in the U.S. teaching foreign language classes, students were required by the university to obtain my written consent to be recorded in any way, including audio recordings. If the minutes of a class of 30 students at a public university aren't considered fair game for anyone to record, then a one-to-one lesson surely falls into the domain of the private. I had to record myself teaching a couple of times, and I had to obtain my students' consent to film our class, even though the objective was not to use the material commercially or disseminate it, but instead for professional development.
It really doesn't matter that listening to a lesson several times may be useful to a language student. It doesn't entitle them to record someone without their consent. Agreement should be obtained directly before recording any part of the lesson, and if the teacher refuses, the student is free to find someone for whom it isn't a problem.
By the way, italki teachers are not "employed" by students. We are considered independent, "self-employed" workers who are not obligated to work with people who make demands we don't want to fulfill. We are bound by the italki code of conduct and terms of service, but nowhere does it state that we are obligated or even expected to be recorded by our students during lessons.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this in a previous comment because I couldn't read all of them,
but when this problem appeared back in Feb.2015, italki changed their TOS to include this note:
"please respect your teacher's privacy and first obtain written permission for recording
either audio or video. We recommend getting and receiving written permission through
italki session messages to be sure that both teacher and student understands and agrees."

Here's mondaytuesday's discussion that she started more than 2 years ago:
https://www.italki.com/discussion/88142
She has all the right to be asked before being recorded. Male or female student, it's exactly the same
here because this is not an accusation for men of being monsters, but it's about her privacy.
Let's think about it, what kind of a relationship it could be between a teacher and a student if a teacher
can't trust a student or vice versa because they may violate her/his privacy.
Yet, this point is so important and italki needs to add it to the lessons requests for example, so that it
become a very clear reminder for students who never thought of reading the FAQs or TOS.
I know I don't read every TOS of every website I'm using, so this could be the case for many students,
therefore there should be a very clear reminder for them about the fact that they can't record a teacher
unless they get their permission. I don't believe they hold a malicious intent, still their act could harm a
teacher.
