The first time I ever heard the term "baller" was in the music video of; "Skee-lo - I wish". I always thought it originated from the NBA world, because there's a predominant scene of basketball play in the video.

First of all, it´s a word I have heard before, but actually would not understand off the top of my head,, because it`s very new slang. It apparently does refer to someone rolling in money, like sports starts and so on.

You have it right. It's not offensive. It is a person who is crushing it or a big wig or a person who has a lot of money and is super trendy and cool. A person, man or woman, or a thing can be baller or a baller. You can say "You're such a baller" or even "You're a bad..ss baller" :D

I heard this word in a song and I was wondering about its meaning too.
Here's a quote:
"I'm a real big baller 'cause I made a million dollars and spend it on girls and shoes."
-I took a pill in Ibiza.
