Any Inuit or Yupik people here?
I'd like to connect with someone from this cultural region for a little research project about the representation of Inuit/Yupik culture in German childrens' literature. As I'm interested in this culture but not an expert, I would need someone I can ask some questions for fact-checking. I can offer help with German or my target languages (Japanese, Chinese, Spanish) in return.

Yeah you are absolutely right. I found here for example Chechen and Yiddish speakers. This second example was something realy unexpected for me because they were under 40 and I allways tought that there aren't any Yiddish native speakers under 80 now. But now some interresting example of absrnce on the website - Lingala. Lingala is one the most spoken language of Africa and it's even not added to the list of languages on the Italki browser. Strange cause you can find there even Dothraki and Klingon - little funny trivia about Italki.

Thanks a lot, I'll try that out. Never used discord though.

Why not? I met speakers of Amharic, Odia and Ojibwe here. Yes, there aren't many of them on italki but sometimes little gems are found here.
I do have other groups where the chance of connecting with someone who's an expert on Inuit culture are higher but I thought it wouldn't hurt asking.

Thanks, I know this tool and normally I wouldn't post a request here but there is no single native Inuktitut speaker in the language partner search there. That doesn't mean that there's no Inuktitut speaker registered. My profile also doesn't show up in the language partner search and I met an Odia speaker here, before Odia was in the language partner list.
