Sleep Learning

There is a theory that, by playing a sound recording while you sleep, your brain can absorb and process the information.

I tried it.  I played a Spanish series named High Seas the last few nights while sleeping.  The series is about events that occur on a luxury ship traveling from Spain to Brazil.

I don't know if I've learned anything new in Spanish.  However, I did dream that I was sinking, so maybe it works.

Sleep learning? I have just two words to say about that: “Dream on ;)”

It won't be difficult for a good psychologist to devise experiments to verify,
or to invalidate a theory with such strong implications.
I suspect that such experiments have already been made so that there might be
real knowledge about the hypotheses you wrote about.
Have you searched for that?

@ Alex,

thanks for your answer, I perfectly agree that what you are struggling on before you go to sleep
will make a more permanent impression in the memory, at least that is also my experience.

Andrew, I am not a believer of the theory.  What little research I did yielded nothing convincing.  Another method is to study before going to sleep.  The material will be committed to the long term memory quicker.  To me, this sounds more plausible.

Phil, dream is all I have. The Spanish language and I don't get along :-).
