Single with a permanent partner being the father of my two children.
There are certain advantages and disadvantages.
For me pros prevail)))
I'm for traditional marriage with all my heart, but I was unable to build such relations when I was younger and I find it senseless at present as I'm satisfied to the greatest degree with what I have)))

Alice, I think there's a difference between messaging someone you don't know and asking whether they're married or single, and starting a topic asking specifically about the advantages and disadvantages of being married or single. It's pretty obvious from the OP's post that he isn't trying to start inappropriate topics about dating, and is asking an interesting question about marriage. As someone who has learned and is learning foreign languages, I can tell you with certainty that discussing topics you find interesting (in the spoken and written form) is an excellent way to improve your language skills.

After all, don't you frequently start topics that are not strictly "educational", telling us about your husband, your vacation, Disney, dressing up for Halloween, your favorite fast food, what made you smile, and your hobbies? Following your logic, these have no place in the forum either. Of course, I think these topics are fine, because we're using language to talk about our interests and topics that elicit opinions.

Ohh you are asking me? What do you think?:D

BTW, there are some interesting comments above.

@Alice, it is not related to dating, it is about marriage. And I don't think there is anything inappropriate. It is good to know different perspective as shared by others.

"What does it matter if people on here are married or single? What would that information do? It's really not anyone else's business since this is an educational site what our status is."

I agree that it doesn't matter whether someone is married or single and it hardly gives any information as well. And lastly, I agree that it is really not anyone's business.  And it is same as asking someone what's there favorite color or breakfast or what they had in their breakfast/lunch/dinner. But Alice, most of the people who follow your posts know that you are happily married and you have a caring husband which is amazing and if you can share that with others without even being asked then what's wrong with this question that merely want to know people's perspective on single/married or about their marital status. Well, it's just a binary(Yes/NO) answer, if you see it simply!

@Val, "A person who doesn't marry after 30 can become an egoist."-- You said something interesting and now I am scared even though I don't go with my e-go:D

For Italki not being a dating site... are we sure this question is appropriate? What does it matter if people on here are married or single? What would that information do? It's really not anyone else's business since this is an educational site what our status is.

I agree with Guyomar. The OP is simply starting a stimulating discussion topic of general interest (while avoiding the many prohibited topics such as religion). These are exactly the kind of interesting discussion this forum needs. It’s more interesting than “What made you smile today?” (published every single day…) or “What’s your favorite cuddly animal?” (although pets are cute… maybe I should post that one) and far superior to the spammy “Seeking language partner” posts. Any halfway experienced, moderately effective, reasonably intelligent language teacher or tutor should be able to understand that learners don’t always express themselves as well as (most) native speakers do.

Here’s another good one: “<a ui-sref="discussionAlias.entity({id:discussion.id})" class="search-title" ng-bind="discussion.title" href="https://classic.italki.com/discussion/210306" style="color: rgb(35, 82, 124); outline: 0px; outline-offset: -2px;"> Will you have only one child or more children?</a>” Again, the poster is not asking a personal question, but simply trying to spark debate on a philosophical issue.
