I always recommend my students according to their personal interests, their level and what is their work/education. If they are interested in medical English I always recommend House MD this is my favorite show. If the student like humor I recommend them sitcoms like Modern Family, Friends. Suits is for someone who is into law and court language. And House of Cards if you are learning political terminologies. If you are a tech person you can watch Mr. Robot and Silicon Valley. If the student is into science I recommend them Big bang theory. Stranger Things and Breaking Bad is good if you are interested in genres like thriller and crime.

 This is the topic I was just discussing earlier with my student, I was telling him if you are watching with an intention of learning you have to pay attention and be mindful of all the dialogues to make the process effective. Keep a notebook or write new expressions and words, make flashcards. Repeat words and phrases.

I'm fascinated by the American culture so I mainly choose shows like Breaking Bad, Suits, Friends, True Detective etc. When it comes to talk about British tv series i only watched Sherlock and it was a pure pleasure. However it was way harder for me to understand all the vocabulary properly because there were so many sophisticated, old-fashioned words.

I'm currently watching Friends (again) LOL. It's one of my favorites sitcom's, just like How I Met Your Mother, but unfortunately isn't on Netflix anymore so I'm not watching anymore. Although, I love how we learn the idiomatic sentences and how people interact to each other.
